One of CCBER's primary goals is to make accessible our biological specimen collections for research, teaching, analysis, and outreach. We are currently working to database each of our collections, as time and funding allow. Botanical, vertebrate, algal and plant anatomical collections have been added to our in-house Specify database so far and over 55,000 specimens are searchable. In addition the records are available through our web portal As our collections become digitized, we upload data and images to the regional, national, and international portals listed below.
Plants
Consortium of California of Herbaria (CCH)--CCBER's California plant specimens are uploaded to this database of specimens contributed by over 32 academic institutions, field stations, botanic gardens, parks, museums, and agencies.
USGS BISON (Biodiversity Information Serving Our Nation)--offering more than 100 million mapped records of nearly every living species nationwide. The vast majority of the records are specific locations, not just county or state records. CCH records are also provided to BISON.
iDigBio--Integrated Digitized Biocollections, the National Resource for Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) funded by the National Science Foundation. Through ADBC, data and images for millions of biological specimens are being made available in electronic format for the research community, government agencies, students, educators, and the general public. Plant records are uploaded by CCH to iDigBio.

VertNet--VertNet is a NSF-funded collaborative project that makes biodiversity data free and available on the web.
Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)--The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is an international open data infrastructure, funded by governments. It allows anyone, anywhere to access data about all types of life on Earth, shared across national boundaries via the Internet.
iDigBio--Vertebrate records are uploaded to iDigBio by VertNet.
